We've got so much going on we want you to know about and get involved in. Torrid is a place where you can make friends, have fun, and learn about God in the process. It really is in everything we do, whether its a weekly meeting, a montly event, or different service opportunities we have.
Here's some things you'll want to be a part of:
- Monthly Events
Typically each month, we will have a big event that you'll want to be a part of and a great opportunity to invite your friends to join us. You will need a permission form on file for any of our events. The form is good for 1 year from August 1 to July 31.
We play an outdoor Dart Wars in September, a Capture the Flag type game in October, a Mystery Dinner in November, an end of the year Bash in December, a game hunting avoiding guards in January, a retreat in February, Dart Wars in March, and a Scavenger Hunt in April. - Torrid–Wednesday nights, 7-8:30, Room 303
Torrid is a high-energy night that you've got to check out. We'll play some stupid games (yes, we know they are stupid, but they're still fun). We'll also have music, time to hang out with friends, a time in family groups, a lesson, and a snack. - SAM's Club–Sunday mornings, 9:15-10:30, PCA Media Center
SAM's Club stands for Sunday AM. At SAM's, we typically split up into groups by grade to study different topics. You'll want to bring your Bible as we will get into it every week as we try to better understand what God is teaching us in it. SAM does not meet from July thru Labor Day. - Small Groups–Sundays, 4:30-6 pm, all over the church
Do you want to really get to know some guys or girls in your grade? Then check out small groups. Groups are broken up by grade and gender. Each week you'll do a short Bible study, but the goal is to journey with God together with a group of friends. It's a time to challenge each other as you follow Christ.
There's a lot to do at Torrid, but we also want to encourage you to get involved as well. There's definitely a place for you to plug in. Some are 1 time events while others require a commitment to be a part of. What area is best for you?
- Service Opportunities
We regularly head out as a big group to help people in need. We will head to Gleaners Community Food Bank several times during the year to package food for families and kids who need it. We'll also rake leaves or shovel snow or do a few other projects as they come up. - SALT–Student leadership, 1st & 3rd Wednesdays, 5:15-6:30, Room 302
SALT is our Student Action Leadership Team. This is a group of students who want to learn about what it means to be a leader. They help us plan and evaluate events, set up for Wednesdays, greet students as they arrive, plan games and activies, and much more. There is an application to complete in order to join SALT and students can join at the beginning of the year (August) or in January. - Drama Team–2nd & 4th Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30, Room 301
We are always looking for students to be a part of our drama team. They meet twice each month for practice. They do skits, readings, or lip syncs at Torrid and occassionally for church services on Sundays. Anyone can join. - Praise Team
Music is an important part of what we do. We have music most Sundays and Wednesdays and we want to have students involved as much as we can. If you sing or play and instrument, we'd love to have you join. You will need to try out for praise team. - Tech Team
From playing videos during the lesson to playing a CD while we play games, there's a lot of tech stuff going on. We need students who can help us with lights, sound, and running computer things each week at Torrid. We are willing to train anyone interested in helping out. - Web Team
Who doesn't spend time on the internet each week? We want torridcbc.org to be a place that kids want to check out. If you'd like to help us get info up to our website or have ideas to make the site better, we'd love to have you help out. Contact Phil if you're interested.
